Bengaluru, September 24, 2026: Karnataka has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a vocational subject for students of Classes 9 and 10 in selected government schools, marking a significant expansion of technology-oriented education at the secondary-school level. The programme is being introduced from the 2026–27 academic year under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).
According to reports, the new AI curriculum will be offered in 1,642 government schools across Karnataka. The initiative is intended to give students early exposure to AI concepts and technology-related skills while connecting school education with emerging employment and vocational opportunities.
